SCHS Varsity Basketball Teams lose to Prince Avenue Christian

In Stephens County High School (SCHS) varsity basketball, the Indians and Lady Indians struggled mightily against Prince Avenue Christian Thursday night at the Currahee Arena.

The Lady Indians only scored eight points combined in the second and third frames and dropped a 63-41 loss. Ivey Jackson was the top scorer for Stephens County with 12 points while Nesi Verdelll chipped in with 10 points.

Riley Reeder was the leading scorer for the Lady Wolverines with 19 points, followed by Brenna Smith with 12.

The loss dropped the Lady Indians to 8-13 on the year and 2-5 in Region 8AA action.

In the boys’ game, with four players missing from earlier in the week, Stephens County suffered a 72-35 loss. 

Isiah Patterson helped the Indians with 12 points, including four three-pointers. Colsen Ivey continued his double-digit scoring with 10 points.

Thursday’s loss dropped the Indians to 4-18 on the season and 1-6 in Region 8AA.

Prince Avenue advanced to 15-7 on the year and 4-3 in region play.

Both the Indians and Lady Indians are back on the hardwood Friday night against the number one teams in the region. Both the Hebron Christian girls and boys top Region 8-AA in the standings.

Game time is 6 p.m. with broadcast time at 5:45 p.m. on WNEG.

The Region Champions and Final Four participants will be recognized in ceremonies at halftime of the girls’ and boys’ games. Come out and see these Stephens County alumni at 3:30 p.m. in the Legacy Room at Stephens County High School.
