SCHS Varsity Baseball wins First Region Game of Season

The Stephens County High School (SCHS) varsity baseball team won its first region game of the year, defeating the East Jackson Eagles 8-2 on Wednesday night at The Reservation.

The Indians’ Landry Williams retired the first 11 hitters in the game and allowed only three hits. Noah Holbrooks drove in three runs, and Duke Collins hit a 2-RBI single to lead the Indians.

Walker Mauldin had both RBIs for East Jackson with a  double in the fourth inning and a solo home run in the seventh. Warren Hilley took the loss for the Eagles.

Stephens County is now 8-5 on the year and 1-0 in region play. East Jackson is 3-13 with a region record of 0-4.

The same two teams play again on Thursday night, March 19, at East Jackson with game time at 5:55 p.m. and air time on WNEG at 5:45 p.m.
