SCHS Varsity Baseball defeats Jefferson for First Win of the Season

In Stephens County High School (SCHS) varsity baseball, the Indians got their first win of the season Wednesday night, February 11, defeating the Jefferson Dragons 8-3.
Jefferson scored the game’s first two runs with runs in the first and second innings. The Indians tied the game in the bottom of the second and went ahead with a run in the bottom of the third. Two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth sealed the victory for the Indians, who are now 1-1 on the season.
Findley Ward was the starter for Stephens County and picked up the win. Ward went 5 innings, giving up just two runs. Lane Presley finished out the game, surrendering no hits and walking only two.
Will Faulk had 2 RBIs for Stephens County. Noah Strickland, Lane Presley, and Junior Waldrup also had RBIs.
Ryan Reed, Jackson Sims, and Reece Romans each had an RBI for the Dragons.
The next SCHS varsity baseball game is Friday night at The Reservation against Habersham Central. Game time is 6 p.m. The game will not be broadcast as WNEG will be in Athens for the Indians’ and Lady Indians’ basketball games. Airtime is at 5:45 p.m. for Friday night’s basketball games.
