SCHS Varsity Baseball beats Eastside

In Stephens County High School (SCHS) varsity baseball, the Indians went on the road Tuesday night, March 3, and picked up a win over the Eastside Eagles, 5-3.  It was only the second loss of the season in 9 games for Eastside. 

After Eastside took an early 1-0 lead, the Indians scored 2 runs in the second inning on back-to-back hits by Caden Hogan and Carmelo Renfroe.  Will Faulk had an RBI single to add to the lead in the third inning, but the game-winning run came across in the fourth inning when Branson Stowe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home Caden Hogan from third base. Stephens County added an insurance run in the seventh inning when Isiah Patterson, pinch running for Noah Holbrooks, scored on an Eastside error.  

Indian starting pitcher Noah Strickland pitched the first 3 innings, giving up 3 Eastside runs, but it was Noah Holbrooks who came in for the final 4 innings and had a stellar performance. Holbrooks pitched to the minimum 12 batters, no-hitting Eastside with 3 strikeouts and no walks. 

Stephens County improves to 5-4 and will be back home this Friday night, March 6, as they host Lakeside-Evans for Senior Night. Game time will be at 5:55 p.m. with airtime on WNEG at 5:45 p.m.
