In Stephens County High School (SCHS) varsity baseball, the Indians picked up a region road win Thursday night, March 19, 7-1, over the East Jackson Eagles. It was a makeup game that was originally scheduled for Monday night.

After giving up 1 run on 2 hits in the first inning, the Indians gave up only 1 more hit the rest of the game, that coming in the seventh inning. Stephens County pitcher Findley Ward and his Indian defense had an outstanding night, at one point, retiring 18 consecutive batters. Ward pitched a complete game and picked up the win. Stephens County scored 4 runs in the third inning and added 3 more in the sixth. Carmelo Renfroe led the Indian hitters with 2 hits and an RBI.

Stephens County improves to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-AA play.  East Jackson falls to 3-14 and 0-5 in the region.

Stephens County won the first game with the Eagles Wednesday night, 8-2, so the Indians will try to sweep the 3 game series Friday night, March 20, when they travel back down to East Jackson. First pitch is at 5:55 p.m. with airtime on WNEG at 5:45 p.m.
