SCHS Track and Field Athletes qualify for State

The Stephens County High School Indian Track and Field Team competed in the AA Sectional B Meet on Saturday, May 2, at East Jackson High School. The Indians competed extremely well, with the boys setting a program record with the most state events qualified for in school history. Highlights included Peanut Arthur becoming the first Freshman Boy to qualify for state in at least 10 years, the boys 4×200 team of Isaiah Arthur, Derek Fortson, Peanut Arthur, and Alex Greer qualifying for the first time in school history, the Boys 4×400 team of Pierre Kouadio, Derek Fortson, Alex Greer, and Isaiah Arthur qualifying for the first time in at least 10 years, Isaiah Arthur finishing 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles, Pierre Koaudio finishing 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash and 3rd in the 800 Meter Run, and the Girls 4×200 Relay Team of Ja’vaeh Brown, Kalandra Gibson, Kailyn McCurry, and Mekelliya Tukes qualifying for the 4th consecutive year. Other State Qualifiers include Jaecee Williams in Discus, Rod Latner in Long Jump, Yasir Myles in Triple Jump, and Kalandra Gibson in the 100 Meter Hurdles. The State Meet will be held at the University of Georgia’s brand new Spec Town Track on May 11-14.
