SCHS to hold Virtual Graduation for Class of 2020, today

Stephens County High School will hold a virtual graduation later today for the class of 2020.

According to Stephens County High School Principal Michael Keown, the virtual graduation will begin at 5 p.m. today, and will include the National Anthem sung by a senior, Valedictorian and Salutatorian speeches, and the pictures of each senior.

Keown continued by saying a formal Commencement Ceremony will be held later after the restrictions have been lifted regarding COVID-19.

Following today’s virtual graduation, the school system has organized a graduate parade to celebrate the class of 2020.

The Graduate Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at WNEG.

The parade route will start at WNEG Radio then head north down Alexander Street towards Tugalo Street; turn right on Tugalo Street and continue on Big A Road.

The parade will end at Walmart.

Graduates are asked to follow these guidelines: meet in the parking lots behind WNEG Radio at 6:15 p.m.; for safety, please stay in your car; have your named posted on the passenger side of your vehicle; and only one graduate per car.

Car decorations are encouraged.

The Grand Marshals of the parade will include Stephens County High School Valedictorian Ashlyn Merce and Salutatorian Raelyn Sanders.
