SCHS Softball Coach Poffenberger resigns, Ivey steps in to fill role

Stephens County High School will have a new softball coach when practice begins this summer.

Dave Poffenberger has resigned as Lady Indians softball coach and his assistant this past season, Kasey Ivey, will take over as head coach.

This will be Coach Ivey’s second time to serve as the Lady Indians head softball coach.

After college, she came to Stephens County High School in 2010 as a teacher and assistant coach for 4 years, then moved into the head coach position from 2014-2016.

She then went to Stephens County Middle School and got out of coaching while her children were very young.

But she returned to the high school last fall as a science teacher and assistant coach.

Coach Ivey says is thankful for the opportunity and enjoys working with the girls.

Dave Poffenberger served as Lady Indians Head Softball Coach for a total of 7 years.

He will be an assistant baseball coach for the Indians this spring.
