SCHS Lady Indians Tennis Team defeated in first round of state playoff

The Stephens County High School Lady Indians tennis team lost a 3-hour heartbreaker Tuesday afternoon at Dawson County by a match score of 3 to 2 in the first round of the state playoffs.

Stephens County fell behind 0-2 with losses at #1 singles and #2 doubles.

But Nyleigh Hutto got the Lady Indians on the scoreboard with her win at #3 singles.

Abby Whitfield & Maddie McGee made it 2-2 with their 3 set win at #1 doubles.

Tenley Boyd battled for 3 hours but lost her #2 singles match which led to the Lady Tigers win.

Stephens County ends the season with an overall record of 10 & 7.

The Lady Indians will lose 2 seniors from their lineup:  Tenley Boyd and Abby Whitfield.

These girls have helped lead their team to 3 straight state tourneys, including a final four run in 2021 and elite 8 in 2022.

The Stephens County boy’s tennis season came to an end Monday afternoon on the road with a 3 to 0 loss to defending state champion Wesleyan in the first round of the state playoffs.

The Indians will lose 2 seniors from their lineup:  Walker Terrell and Levi Spencer.

The Stephens County boys end their season with a 9-7 overall record.
