SCHS Lady Indians come up short in both Region 8-AAA playoff games

The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team lost both of their Region 8-AAA playoff games Wednesday, coming up short by just one run in each game.

In the first of four games played Wednesday at Franklin County High School, the Lady Lions were victorious over Hart County, 8 to 4, to advance to the championship game.

The Lady Indians took on Oconee County in the second game of the day—Stephens County’s Jasmine Lowery drove in Laney McGee with a double, and Allie Huff added two more hits, but it was not enough as Oconee County won a close game, 2 to 1.

Oconee County moved on to the championship game, while the Lady Indians played Hart County in the third game.

Stephens County had 7 total hits with Laney McGee and Tenley Boyd each with 2 hits, but the Lady Indians lost again by just one run, 7 to 6.

In the Championship Game, Oconee County won over Franklin County, 3 to 1.

Stephens County will be the number 4 seed from the region, Hart County #3, Franklin County #2, and Oconee County the top seed from Region 8—all four teams will play the top 4 teams from Region 5 in the first round of the state tournament beginning Tuesday or Wednesday, with the higher seeded team hosting.
