SCHS Indians return to the gridiron for football after three weeks off

After an open date and two games called off due to COVID related issues, the Stephens County Indians football team will finally be back on the football field tonight as they host the East Jackson Eagles at The Reservation for the final game of the regular season.

The Indians are 4 & 3 overall and 0 & 2 in Region 8-AAA play.

They lost their last game back October 23rd at Franklin County when the Lions scored on the last play to win 29 to 28.

Stephens County has not played a home game since a 27 to 12 win over Habersham Central on October 2nd.

East Jackson comes into tonight’s game with an overall record of 1 & 7 and 0 & 4 in the region.  The Eagles lost last Friday night to Hart County, 49 to 9.

This is the first meeting between the Indians and East Jackson in varsity football.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Indians offensive line coach, Cody Honeycutt, says the Indians better not over-look East Jackson because of their 1 & 7 record.

Tonight is also Senior Night when seniors of all the fall sports along with band and auxiliary will be honored.

One other Region 8-AAA game is on the schedule tonight as Hart County will host Monroe Area.

Franklin County’s game with Oconee County was called off due to COVID issues.

Several other area teams will be in action tonight, including:  White County at Cherokee Bluff, Banks County at Elbert County, Madison County will host Jefferson, and Commerce will host Lincoln County.

Rabun County has the night off.  Habersham Central will travel to Shiloh on Saturday afternoon.
