SCHS Hoops Splits With Hart Co.

The Stephens County Lady Indians pull away late to beat Hart County in non-region basketball action.

Tied at 38 entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Indians went on an 11-1 run to start the quarter on their way to a 60-49 win over the Lady Bulldogs Monday in Hartwell.

Stephens County’s girls outscored Hart 22-11 overall in the final eight minutes.

Lexie Cash led the Lady Indians with a season-high 18 points. Mya Cleveland added 14 points and Kaitlyn Phillips contributed a season-high nine points for Stephens County.

Damiya Montgomery led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points.

The Lady Indians moved to 4-6 with the win.

In the boys’ game Monday in Hartwell, it was Hart County pulling away in the fourth quarter on the way to a 59-52 win over Stephens County.

Chris Jones again led the Indians in scoring, pouring in four threes and 14 points overall. Tay Jones added 10 points.

Trey Clark led the Bulldogs with 18 points.

With the loss, the Indians also drop to 4-6 on the year.

Both Stephens County varsity basketball teams are back in action on Saturday in Hart County in the first game of the Hart County Christmas Tournament.
