SCHS Football Standouts Honored

Stephens County High School held its annual Football Awards Ceremony Monday night.  Each player on the varsity and J-V teams was recognized. All of the seniors and those players named All-Region received plaques.

Special recognition was also given to those who were named All-State by the A-J-C or Recruit Georgia. They were Javin Gordon, Brock Tankersley, Luke Waters, Garrett Addison, Jacob Lunsford, Jonah Swinton, and Tripp Underwood.

WNEG presented our Player of the Year Award to senior Javin Gordon, who led the team in rushing, all-purpose yards, and total points scored.

Senior linebacker Garrett Addison won the Trigger Thomason “Strive and Drive” Award.

Senior lineman Jakob Lunsford and senior receiver and safety Brock Tankersley were both presented with the Keaton Thompson “Effort-Attitude-Toughness” Award.

After the Awards Ceremony, Head Coach Wesley Tankersley said they played a tough schedule
this past season to get them ready for the playoffs and were led by a good group of seniors.

The Indians finished the season with a record of 8 & 5, and reached the quarter-finals in the state playoffs for the first time since 2005.
