SCHS Flag Football Team eager for Second Year
Last year was the first year of flag football at Stephens County High School (SCHS). Cayden Maxwell takes over this year as the head coach and is eager for the upcoming season.
“I have very high hopes for the girls. This year will be somewhat of a learning experience with a new coach, but we’re just trying to build each and every day. We’re learning about each other. Our team building is getting better each and every day. And I really think it’s going to be a good and successful year. Just looking forward to the season. Go Indians.”
Lily Ware, a senior, said last year was about learning the sport and team building, but this year is about winning games.
“Last year, we didn’t really win much, but I think it helped our team building a lot, and this year, I think we’re going to win some games.”
Ashton Moore, a sophomore, enters her second season on the team and is excited to win more games as well.
“I’m very excited! I know there are a lot more opportunities, and I think we’ll be able to win some games.”
SCHS will hold a tryout for the flag football team in early September. The first game will be a scrimmage against Jackson County on September 22, before the 18-game regular season.
