SCHS Drum Major to lead UGA Band before Missouri Game

On November 14, Stephens County High School (SCHS) Head Drum Major Maelynne White will lead the University of Georgia Band. It’s part of an award she won this summer, says SCHS Band Director Zach Towery.

“We send them off to drum major camp at the University of Georgia every summer, and Maelynne actually won an award this year, and part of the award is that she will get to conduct the UGA Redcoat Band at a home football game. So, their game against Missouri, she’ll actually be down on the field during pre-game conducting the spell Georgia cheer.”

Only one high school drum major is selected every year, and Maelynne is the one this year.

Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia in Athens seats 93,033 fans and is the ninth-largest NCAA football stadium.
