SCHS CTAE Director makes a Presentation to the Stephens County Board of Education

Stephens County High School (SCHS) Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education (CTAE) Director Joni Whitfield made a presentation to the Stephens County Board of Education at their work session meeting on Thursday, September 10. Whitfield discussed the CTAE classes being offered and some grant funding. She also told the Board about increasing student participation through Career Tech Student Organizations or CTSOs.

“We’re wanting 100% of our students to have the opportunity to participate. Obviously, it’s hard to get 100% of teenagers on board for anything, but we’re trying to create opportunities during the school day for them to participate, and one of the ways that we’re doing that is that every CTAE teacher will host a CTSO during our club day. So, rather than them signing up for like spirit club, or the board games, or something like that, they’re all doing their CTSO. So, our numbers are already improving, and our goal there, I think, we will not only meet, but we will far surpass the original goal that we had set to improve CTSO participation.”

The CTAE classes offered at SCHS are in automotive, business, construction, cosmetology, drafting, broadcast video production, nursing, and welding.
