SCHS Coaches honor Four Retiring Coaching Legends
On the last day of school on Thursday, May 21, the coaches at Stephens County High School (SCHS) gathered in the media center after students were dismissed for the summer to honor four retiring coaching legends: Jerry Underwood, Brad Whitfield, and Donny and Debby Williams.
SCHS Athletic Director Eric Sutulovich said these coaches have made a lasting impact at SCHS.
Coach Underwood is retiring but has agreed to coach golf another season at SCHS. He said this about the coaches throwing a surprise celebration.
Coach Whitfield has been teaching and coaching at SCHS for the last 21 years and said retiring is bittersweet.
The SCHS Tennis Courts were recently named for Donny and Debby Williams. Debby couldn’t attend due to a prior commitment, but Donny said that there has been no better place to work than SCHS.
SCHS Head Football Coach Thomas Flowers has worked with each of the coaches and is very grateful to them for the impact they have made on his life.
Each of the coaches was presented with gifts.
The coaches at SCHS shared stories of their time and memories with each of them.
Join me in thanking these four outstanding coaches at SCHS for their many years of educating student-athletes.
