SCHS Cheer Team pumped about New Year

Cheerleaders at Stephens County High School (SCHS) are pumped about the new academic and athletic year. Jaycey Burtt, a senior, is excited about the upcoming football season.

“I’m excited to see how far we’ll go in the playoffs, and I love watching our community come out, and all of us supporting something for the same cause.”

Being a part of the cheerleading team is a way to make close friends, says senior Kaelynne Waever.

“I like that it’s kind of an automatic way for you to make friends, and you all are kind of like a sisterhood, so you always have someone to hang out with, and you always have someone to call if you need somebody. So, it’s just a really great way to be involved and make friends.”

Senior Reagan Nesbitt explains what she likes most about being a cheerleader at SCHS.

“What I like most about being on the cheer team is just having all of these girls by my side that I can just look to all the time and just have so many different friends to go to.”

Zoe Carroll tells what she is most looking forward to in her season year.

“I’m looking forward to just opening my horizons and seeing what the Lord has for my future.”

SCHS cheerleaders not only cheer on other teams, they also compete in different competitions throughout the year. They are the region champs for the past five years, and last year they finished fifth in the state.
