SCHS Basketball Swept By Madison Co.

Stephens County drops both ends of a region basketball doubleheader.

Tuesday, the Indians and Lady Indians traveled to Danielsville to take on Madison County.

In the girls’ game, Stephens County led by as much as 13 early in the third period, but Madison County came back and took the lead with less than four minutes to go on the way to a 59-50 win.

The Lady Red Raiders made 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Emily Mote had 11 points to lead Stephens County and Mya Cleveland scored nine.

Moving to boys’ action, Madison County took advantage of a cold shooting third quarter by the Indians as the Red Raiders beat Stephens County, 44-31.

Tay Jones led the Indians with 10 points.

With their loss, the Lady Indians drop to 2-1 in the region and 9-9 overall, while the boys are 5-13 overall and 0-3 in Region 8-AAAA.

Stephens County basketball returns to action Friday night when the Indians and Lady Indians travel to take on Buford in region play.

Tip-off on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
