SCBOE to consider reallocating funds for Cannery

The Stephens County Board of Education will meet this week on Wednesday for its work session.

One item up for discussion is a consideration to reallocate system funds to cover the cost to operate the Eastanollee Cannery.

According to Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey, the board will need to approve the transfer of funds in order to cover the cost to operate the cannery.

In August of 2018, the Board of Education voted on a motion allocating funds to keep the Eastanollee Cannery open.

During the meeting last year, Board Member Mark Smith recommended the board adjust the budget to fund the cannery; however, at the time, the board was unsure of the total cost to operate the cannery.

Again, the board will meet on Wednesday, December 4, at 5:30 p.m. inside the Stephens County School System Office.

The board of education will meet again on Wednesday, December 11, for its regular scheduled meeting.
