SCBOE set to meet tonight

The Stephens County Board of Education will meet this evening for its regular scheduled meeting.

Items up for discussion include the financial reports for January and the SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) Activity report.

The board will also consider awarding Cirrus Networks the bid to replace the intercom systems at Big A Elementary, Liberty Elementary, and Toccoa Elementary schools.

The total cost for the intercom at all three schools through Cirrus Networks is $139,745.

The total cost to add classroom phones at all three schools through Cirrus Networks is $10,235.

The board also received a bid through CANA Communications; however, the total cost to install the intercom at all three schools would be $290,500.

The cost to add classroom phones at all three schools through CANA Communications is the same as Cirrus Networks at $10,235.

The final cost to the school system after safety grant discount has been applied is $59,980 through Cirrus Network; whereas, if the school system goes with CANA Communications the final cost, after the safety grant discount, is $210,375.

The Stephens County Board of Education will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. inside the School System Office.
