SCBOE reappoints Dawkins as Chair, Smith as Vice-Chair for 2023

The Stephens County Board of Education recently reappointed Board Member Wendy Dawkins as the Chair for calendar year 2023.

Board Member Mark Smith was reappointed Vice-Chair for 2023.

Additionally, the Stephens County Board of Education approved the 2023-2024 school calendar.

The academic year 2023-24 will start on Wednesday, August 2, and will be 180 days for students in school.

The calendar will also include several holidays for students and staff, 10 teacher workdays, and two early release days.

Students and Staff will have the following days off:

Labor Day on September 4, 2023.

Fall break from October 9 through the 13^th.

Thanksgiving Holiday from November 20 to the 24^th.

Winter holiday from December 18 through January 1.

MLK Day on January 15, 2024.

President’s Day on February 19, 2024.

Spring Break will from March 29 through April 5, 2024.

And Memorial Day on May 27^th.

Teacher workdays have been scheduled for July 27 through July 31, August 1^st, January 2 through January 3, March 15, and May 28 through May 30.

The early release days are scheduled for Friday, December 15, and May 24.

May 24, 2024, will be the last day for students in academic year 2023-2024.
