SCBC will meet today for its regular scheduled meeting and work session

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this morning for its regular scheduled meeting and work session.

On the agenda, there are several items to note, including a public hearing for the first reading of two proposed alcohol amendments to Chapter 6 Section 6-69 (f) and (n).

The amendment to Section 6-69 (f) changes the first sentence of the ordinance.

In article (n), sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) will be amended.

In other business, the commission will hold a land use public hearing for a rezoning request from Oscar and Lori Yearwood, at 746 Hwy 184 N., Toccoa.

The property is currently zoned as residential single; however, the proposed action to be considered is to rezone 1.00 acre of the property to commercial general.

The board of commissioners will also consider a motion to approve several amendments to the Fiscal Year 2019 budget.

Those amendments include changes to the budget for capital projects fund, E-911, Solid Waste, District Attorney, General Administration, Government Buildings, Elections, Code Enforcement, Public Works, and Restricted Funds.

The board will consider a motion awarding Mike Jones Ford the bid for three Special Service Trucks for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $33,115.40 per unit to be paid for out of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VI) account.

The board will also consider a motion awarding Jacky Jones Ford the bid for three 2020 Dodge Chargers for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $23,775 per unit to be paid for using SPLOST VI funds.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this morning at 8:30 a.m. inside the Stephens County Historical Courthouse.
