SCBC will meet this morning for regular scheduled meeting

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this morning for its regular scheduled meeting inside the Stephens County Historic Courthouse at 8:30 a.m.

The meeting will begin with the recognition of employee of the month.

Up for consideration are motions to approve Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Amendments, and to authorize Chairman James Addison sign contract with Gunby Communications, Inc. for the Stephens County E-911 Radio Console System.

Additionally, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners will consider a request from Stephens County Sheriff’s Office for $212,000 taking $184,113 from SPLOST VI Funds and $27,887 from SPLOST VII to purchase and equip vehicles as they are able vehicles.

The Commission will also consider a request from Stephens County Extension Coordinator Susan Yearwood for 4-H Bus funding.

Following the new business, the Commission will consider various invoices/requisitions over $5,000.

On that last are two invoices for Acree Oil, one in the amount of $12,963.26 and the second one for $15,425.53; three invoices from C.W. Matthews for $19,848.98, $53,849.65, and $53,429.53; one invoice totaling $6,360 from McGarity’s; one for $31,824 from Henry Hayes; and lastly one for $25,350 from Southern Setting.

One thing to note is that the Commission will not use today’s meeting as one of the public hearings for the proposed Land Use Ordinance text amendments.

Once the two public hearings are scheduled WNEG News will announce the dates and time for those hearings.

Again, today’s meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. inside the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.
