SCBC will meet this morning

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet later this morning for its regular scheduled meeting.

On the agenda, the board will consider a motion to approve a purchase order for a used vehicle for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office not to exceed $30,000 for the police rated vehicle, and $4,000 for the equipping of the vehicle to be paid for using funds from the SPLOST VI account.

The board will also consider a motion to approve the leveling of traveler’s point using 1-1/2 inches of asphalt at a cost of $14,002.50 to be paid for using funds from SPLOST VI.

Another item to be considered is a motion to authorize commissioners to sign a resolution supporting the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration for a High-Speed Rail Corridor.

In other business, the board will hold a Land Use Public Hearing for a variance request from Stephen Dalton Pless for his property located at 1432 S. Yow Mill Road, in Toccoa.

The property is currently zoned as agriculture residential; however, the proposed action to be taken is to place a mobile home on the property as a second residence.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet at 8:30 a.m. this morning inside the Historic County Courthouse.
