SCBC will meet by teleconference today

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet today for its regular scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m.; however, as WNEG News reported earlier, all county meetings will be closed to the public until further notice.

County Clerk Beth Rider says anyone wishing to attend the meeting can do so by teleconference.

“The Stephens County Board of Commissioners’ meetings will be closed to the public until further notice due to the emergency situation of COVID-19,” she said. “If you would like to attend the meeting by teleconference you may dial in by calling 720-713-1663 . We will ask the citizens to refrain from speaking until the public comments at the end of the meeting.”

Items to be considered during today’s meeting include a motion to abandon Poole Lane.

According to County Officials the road no longer serves a substantial public purpose and abandonment is otherwise in the best public interest.

The Board will also consider a motion to approve supplemental funding for the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter in the amount of $23,250 for Fiscal Year 2020.

Another item includes a consideration to award Tri-County Machines the bid for a new copier machine at the New County Annex in the amount of $7,929.50.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.
