SCBC decides against moving forward with amending the Buildings and Buildings Regulations Ordinance

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners have decided not to move forward with amending the Buildings and Building Regulations Ordinance.

The decision came during its meeting on Tuesday.

As WNEG News recently reported, the Commission was considering the amendment to Article III, Section 18.71 (a)(2), which currently reads: a building permit is not required for less than 150 square feet; however, the change would require building permits for structures less than 150 square feet.

During the Commission’s meeting Tuesday, County Administrator Phyllis Ayers explained that the county has decided not to amend the ordinance.

“The first reading of amending Section 18 of Buildings and Building Regulations, we’re actually going to remove that from the agenda. We’re not going to make that proposition. It was not actually a requested change by anyone. It was just something that was being done in-house differently than on the ordinance books, and as we’ve discussed it, we’re just going to remove it that would leave Section 18.71 as is, and Beth (Rider, County Clerk) will stop getting building permits for anything less than 150 square feet,” Ayers said.

Again, the ordinance will remain unchanged.
