SCBC approve purchase of new truck for Emergency Management

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners has agreed to purchase a truck for Stephens County Emergency Management in the amount of $29,780.

Ed Murdock Superstores submitted a bid to the board for the vehicle.

According to Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers the purchase will be paid for using funds from the capital projects account.

If the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax is approved during the November 5 election, then the county will refund the capital projects account for the cost of the truck using those funds.

Commissioner James Addison asked if the $29,780 included everything needed to operate the vehicle; however, Stephens County E911 Director Danielle Rhodes explained that that price only includes the vehicle.

She says lights and decals would have to be added later.

The board approved the purchase 4-0 with Commissioner Dennis Bell being absent.
