SCBC approve budget amendments for FY21

During last week’s regular scheduled meeting of the Stephens County Board of Commissioners, the commission approved several Fiscal Year 2021 Budget amendments.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, the amendments were for the Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, Senior Center, Buildings and Grounds, Rural Fire Protection and Public Works.

She says some of the amendments were changes that moved money from within the department; however, some of the other amendments weren’t as minor.

“For the Sheriff’s Office its $32,889.34 and that is to take two insurance checks that were received for a damaged vehicle, to be put towards the purchase of a used vehicle,” she said. “Emergency Management and Senior Center is within the department. Rural Fire Protection is $4,426.40 also from contingency, and that was for a major truck repair from Rush Truck Centers. And Public Works is the repair of a guardrail on 3959 Davis Road, and that is to take the insurance check that reimbursed the work for that and moving it from revenue to public works.”

She says that the amendment to the Buildings and Grounds department was an emergency purchase for a metal detector.

“Buildings and Grounds $4,250, we had to replace the metal walk-through detector. It happened to be an older one, and it was a different vendor. So, we went with a vendor that’s got the rest of the equipment in there. But that was sort of an emergency purchase because it wasn’t detected the items that were going through the detector,” Ayers said.

Vice Chair James Addison made a motion approving the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget amendments with Commissioner Dennis Bell seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
