SCBC appoint Interim Finance Director, New Elections Supervisor

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners made two motions after coming out of an executive session during its meeting on Tuesday.

The first motion was to appoint County Administrator Phyllis Ayers as the Interim Finance Director.

The decision came after Finance Director David Jahns tendered his resignation.

Jahns last day with Stephens County is December 1, 2022.

County Administrator Christian Hamilton says they will begin advertising the Finance Director position in the coming days.

The second motion was to name Bruce Carlisle as the sole finalist for the Stephens County Election Supervisor position.

According to Hamilton, Bruce Carlisle has been selected as the sole finalist for the position.

He says pending a 14-day waiting period, Carlisle will be the next Elections Supervisor.

“At their meeting last night, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners announced that Bruce Carlisle will be the next Elections Supervisor in Stephens County, pending a 14-day waiting period. Bruce brings many years of experience in government to Stephens County, including his most recent tenure as Chief of Police for the City of Lavonia. We are excited to work with Bruce in this position and look forward to utilizing his experience in implementing the election process in Stephens County,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton says Carlisle has many years of leadership experience and is glad that he’ll be working with Stephens County.

“Bruce brings many years of leadership and expertise from across the state of Georgia to Stephens County. We cannot wait for him to dive into this office and get things going and really just further the elections efforts in Stephens County. Bruce is a phenomenal human being, a phenomenal government employee and public servant. There really is no one better for this job. We’re thankful he’s going to be working for us,” Hamilton said.

Carlisle’s first day, following the 14-day waiting period, will be December 7, 2022.
