Scarborough appointed Chair, Bell Vice-Chair

Stephens County Board of Commissioners have appointed a new Chairman for the 2019 calendar year.

Tuesday, county commissioners held their first meeting of 2019.

During which, Former Chairman Michelle Ivester handed the gavel off to Commissioner Dean Scarborough after he was selected unanimously by his fellow commissioners to serve for the year ahead.

Scarborough said he is looking forward to again serving as Chairman of the County Commission.

Meanwhile, Dennis Bell was unanimously chosen by the other commissioners to serve as Vice-Chair for the County Commission for the year ahead.

Also on Tuesday, Stephens County Commissioners re-appointed Beth Rider as County Clerk; the law office of Sanders, Ranck, and Skilling as County Attorney; Larry Orange was appointed as Budget Officer; and county commissioners were assigned to various boards and committees on which the county is represented.

The commission also set its meeting dates and times for 2019.

There are no changes as meetings will continue to be held the second Tuesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. and the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m., both in the Historic County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.
