SC Middle School Rebels Defeat Franklin County

Stephens County defeated Franklin County Saturday night at the Reservation, 14 to 8, in middle school football.

Franklin County scored first with 5:32 left in the second quarter on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Chris Goode to Dee Oliver.  Goode’s 2-point conversion pass to Jontavion Hughes gave Franklin County the early lead.  But the Rebels came back to tie the score with 1:31 left in the second quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by Cameron Lacy.

Quarterback Cruz Mullinix ran in the 2-point conversion, and the game was tied at halftime, 8 to 8.  Stephens County scored to go-ahead with 3:04 left in the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run by Zatorian Lacy.   But the 2-point conversion failed.

At that point, the Rebels’ defense took over and prevented Franklin County from scoring the rest of the game.

Stephens County improves to 3 & 1 while Franklin County drops to 2 & 2.  The Rebels will host Hart County Thursday at the Reservation-kickoff will be at 4:30.  The Stephens County J-V is scheduled to play White County after the middle school game ends Thursday night.

During halftime ceremonies Saturday night, Alisha Morgan Johnson, daughter of Jon and Kerry Johnson, was crowned Homecoming Queen.
