Saturday Matinees at the Ritz continues this week with The Lion King

The Historic Ritz Theatre will hold its second installment of its Saturday Matinees this weekend in downtown Toccoa.

According to Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh, throughout the month of August, the theatre will be screening films on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

She says the films being played in August were originally scheduled for the first half of its Summer Movies Series; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the theatre was unable to open in June.

This week the theatre will be screening The Lion King.

The remaining movie line-up for the Saturday matinees include: The Secret Life of Pets 2 on August 15; Dolittle on August 22; and Harriet on August 29.

Mayhugh says during each screening the theatre will be limited to just 100 guests, to ensure everyone can maintain social distancing.

Additionally, she says hand sanitizer will be available throughout the theatre and face masks are encouraged.

The theatre will be cleaned and disinfected between each showing.

As always, tickets and concessions are $1 each.

At this time, the theatre is only accepting cash payments.
