By Lynn F. Crunkleton, Utilities Office Manager for the City of Toccoa/Toccoa Natural Gas

This notice is being provided pursuant to Chapter 391-3-6-.05 concerning the reporting of a sanitary sewer spill.

At 4:30 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, City of Toccoa personnel investigated a sanitary sewer overflow event reported by a resident of 45 Hill Place.  The damaged gravity sewer line was removed and replaced.  The overflow condition at the manhole ceased around 10:45 pm.  The overflow amount was approximately 5,000 gallons.

The overflow entered a small tributary of Eastanollee Creek.  There are no known water intake points within twenty miles of the spill.  The cause of the SSO (Sanitary Sewer Overflow) is due to root intrusion in the gravity sewer line.  Crews will continue to monitor manholes in the area.

The contact person is Harry Scott, Utilities Director of the City of Toccoa: landline telephone number is 706-282-3305.  All appropriate notices have been posted.  If required, the testing regimen will be started as soon as possible, as well as public media notification.
