Samuel Douglas Bennett

Samuel Douglas Bennett, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Betty Bennett, his loving wife Wilma “Ann” Bennett, and his sister Freida Bennett.

He is survived by his sister Deborah Carter; his son Kip Bennett and his wife Lisa; daughter Kimberly Golden and her husband Tommy; as well as his three grandchildren:  Tyler Bennett, Jasmine Mowery Bennett, and Lexi Golden.  He is especially missed by his loyal pet and companion Petey.

Sam was born and raised in Toccoa, GA, and left to enlist in the US Airforce.  He was a 20-year veteran, serving his country at home and abroad, in peace and war.  He settled in Clarksville, TN after retirement to work in Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, and was a long-time member of the Dunbar Cave Baptist Church, where he also served as Deacon.

He learned to cook in his retirement years, loving to feed others.  He was active in community outreach programs and Meals on Wheels, especially helping the elderly and home bound.

Sam was honored at the Dunbar Cave Baptist Church on Saturday, February 19th at 2pm.

Graveside services will be held at eleven o’clock Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
