Rebels Remain Undefeated on Football Field
The Stephens County Middle School Rebels improved to 4-0 by defeating Elbert County 16-14 in a battle between two undefeated teams last Thursday night.
The Rebels held a 16-8 lead late in the 4th quarter when Elbert County moved within 5-yards of the goal line but a fumble was recovered by the Rebels. The Rebels then attempted to move the ball out on a quarterback sneak but fumbled back to Elbert County. Elbert County then converted that turnover into a touchdown with less than a minute to play in the game but the try for the 2-point conversion failed, and after the Rebels recovered an onside kick, they were able to run the clock out for the victory.
Peanut Arthur led the Rebels offense with 88 yards rushing including two touchdown runs of 60 and 12 yards. Quarterback Kaiden Harbin had 36 yards passing and 12 yards rushing, Dallas Hague had 3 receptions for 20 yards and Caleb Cobb had 1 reception for 12 yards. Kurante Wiley led the Rebel defense with 9 solo tackles, Seth Fulbright added 4 solo tackles, and Noah Ward had 3. Harbin and Hague added interceptions.
The Rebels will have homecoming and the final home game this season when they host Rabun County on Thursday at 5:30 P.M.
