Rebels Basketball Take 3 of 4 from Elbert

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels basketball teams won 3 of the 4 games played vs. Elbert County Middle School Thursday at SCMS.

The 7th grade boys team moved to 8-0 on the season with a 46-40 win over Elbert County.

Javin Gordon led the Rebels with a game high 17 points, Andrew Keown added 12, Tripp Underwood 8, Semaj Walker 6, Jet Black 2 and Brock Tankersley 1 for the undefeated 7th grade boys.

The Rebels 8th grade boys improved to 6-2 with a 45-20 win over Elbert County. The Rebels had balanced scoring led by Ethan Smith’s 11 points, Jaesc Smith had 10, Aaron Scott 7, Khalid Fleming 5, Nuri Winters and Devin Cobb 4 each, Colby Fowler 3, and Solemn Dupree 1.

The Lady Rebels 8th grade team won a tight battle over Elbert 26-21. The 8th grade Lady Rebels were led by Aurora Elrod’s 9 points, Dariyah Bell added 7, A’Niya Mayweather 4, and Kaitlyn Cangelosi, Trayinyasia Walker, and Jaziya Harbin scored 2 each. The 8th grade Lady Rebels record now stands at 5-3.

The 7th grade Lady Rebels lost a very close game to Elbert County 24-21. The Lady Rebels were led by Lanesia Verdell with 10 points, Fayeth Ivester had 7, and Savannah Smith scored 4. The 7th grade Lady Rebels are now 2-6 on the season.

Stephens County Middle School will return to action this Thursday when they host Rabun County Middle School.
