Raiders Sweep Indians in Season Series

The Habersham Central Raiders and Lady Raiders took a doubleheader win over the Stephens County Indians and Lady Indians in basketball action on Saturday night at Currahee Arena.

Jazky Bantaum scored 20 points for the Lady Raiders as Habersham’s girls defeated the Lady Indians 52-36. Stephens County trailed by just a point in the first quarter but could get no closer. Maddie McGee led the Lady Indians with 8 points, and Jaziya Harbin contributed 7 points in the loss. Saturday’s defeat gave the Lady Indians a 1-4 record while Habersham Central’s girls are now 5-2.

In the boys’ game, the Raiders hit 12 three-point shots as they ran away with a 75-45 victory. Two Raiders hit in double figures. Bryce Pittman had 19 points and Jalen Davis chipped in with 17. Coach Tommy Yancey’s team is now 7-1 on the season while the Stephens County boys, who played without two starters, dropped to 1-3.

The Indians and Lady Indians begin the first of three road trips this week, starting at Rabun County Tuesday night. Game time in Tyger will be 6 P.M. with broadcast time on WNEG at 5:45PM.
