Pruitt ends Planning Commission run, after 18 years of service

Planning Commissioner Don Pruitt has decided to retire after a long and storied history on the Toccoa Planning Commission.

According to Community Development Director Connie Tabor, Pruitt began his service Feb. 17, 2000, and served for six, three-year terms; his last term ended June 30, 2018.

Tabor told WNEG News, that Pruitt elected to not seek re-appointment for another term.

During his lengthy service, Pruitt has championed many zoning issues, including the enactment of the amended sign ordinance and the tree ordinance, which has garnered the City of Toccoa the designation of a Tree City USA.

Tabor said that Pruitt has upheld the values of the Toccoa Planning Commission with honor and perseverance, not only as an appointed commissioner, but as an educated and concerned citizen of the community.

The City of Toccoa recognizes Pruitt for his efforts in preserving the wonderful quality of life for residents of Toccoa and gratefully thanks him for his investment to the community.
