Prolonged Stretch of Heat expected through Independence Day Holiday Weekend

A prolonged stretch of heat and humidity is expected through the Independence Day Holiday Weekend.
Heat index values of 100–105°F are possible each afternoon outside the mountains, with the hottest days expected Thursday-Saturday.
Stay hydrated, take breaks, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat.
Heat concerns are increasing across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia beginning Wednesday and potentially lasting through the Independence Day holiday weekend.
While daily temperatures in the 90s are expected, the bigger concern will be the combination of heat and humidity, which could push heat index values above 100°F and potentially into Heat Advisory criteria on multiple days.
Now for a weather fact that seems hard to believe in late June: parts of the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies are forecast to experience frost and freeze conditions on June 30, while much of the eastern U.S. contends with hazardous heat. Quite the contrast across the country!
