Polar Express to Deliver, Joy, Candy; Collect Food
The Stephens County Commission-sponsored 2024 Polar Express season begins today, Dec 3, and WNEG News would like to remind residents that the safety precautions taken up by county officials last year will also be in effect this year. Last year, county staff and officials updated the Polar Express procedure and route to limit interaction with children during times that the county-sponsored Polar Express vehicle is in motion.
Staff and officials worked to re-imagine the route to provide more time and a set schedule when the Polar Express would arrive at a set location and pass out treats and interact with area youths.
Also, residents are reminded that not only will the Polar Express be passing out joy and candy to local children at each stop, but they will be extending the holiday spirit even further by collecting food items at each stop for Food2Kids.
Suggested donations for those who would like to donate food this year include individually-wrapped crackers, individually wrapped multi-grain bars, pudding, fruit and applesauce cups, individual milk boxes, 16 oz jars of peanut butter, individual mac & cheese cups, individual juice boxes, tuna kits, and individual-serving cereal boxes.
