Pedestrian struck by Vehicle in Royston

A Royston man is facing charges after an accident in Lavonia involving a
pedestrian.

It happened around 11p Monday night on Jones St.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 52 trooper who worked the scene,
a Toccoa man, identified as 44-year old Carlos Montez Bullard was struck
crossing Jones St. By a 1999 Chevrolet S10 pick up driven by 42-year old
Russell Dexter Strickland of Royston.

In his report, the trooper said Strickland was traveling south on Jones St. Near
Ross Place when Bullard entered the roadway.

Strickland’s vehicle struck Bullard with the front bumper.

Bullard landed on the concrete median.

He was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

As of Wednesday, he was still hospitalized and his condition is unknown.

Strickland was issued a citation at the scene for DUI.  The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be forthcoming.
