Overnight shooting in Hartwell leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

A shooting in Hartwell leaves two people dead and two injured.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who was called in by Hartwell Police to investigate, the incident happened around 2:15 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Jack’s Bar & Grille on Anderson Highway 29.

When officers arrived on scene, they located at least three shooting victims.

One of the victims, identified by Hart County Coroner Mike Adams as 39-year-old Roberius Thornton of Hartwell, Georgia, was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.

According to Adams, the second victim, 25-year-old Joseph Johnson of Canon, Georgia, died on Monday afternoon at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina.

The third victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. That person’s condition is unknown at this time.

The fourth victim went to the hospital on their own accord. That person has since been treated and released.

Neither one of the two survivor’s names have been released.

The GBI says several vehicles were also hit by multiple rounds fired.

No suspects have been identified yet.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
