Nine SCHS Tennis Players Named All-Region

The Stephens County High School boys’ and girls’ tennis teams had successful seasons and both advanced to the Elite 8 of the state AAA tennis tournament.  Recently, the Region 8-AAA all region tennis teams were announced.  The SCHS tennis program was well represented by having 9 players selected as all-region.

*  Makiya Hutto was unanimously selected as region 8-AAA most outstanding girls tennis player.  Makiya is a junior and played #1 singles for the Lady Indians. Her only match loss was to perennial state champion Westminster. Hutto is the 1st SCHS girls player to be named most outstanding player  and is only the 3rd SCHS tennis player to  ever receive this prized player award. 

* Kaylin Snyder & Tenley Boyd were selected 1st team all-region doubles.

*Erin Terrell & Abby Whitfield were selected 2nd team all-region doubles. 

* Griffin Wilkinson, a senior,  was selected to the boys 1st team all-region singles.  Griffin has played #1 singles for the Indians for 3 seasons.

* Levi Spencer  &  Clayton Bishop, both juniors,  were selected 2nd team all- region doubles. 

* Rusty Spencer was selected 2nd team all region singles.  Spencer is a freshman and played singles  and some doubles matches this season for the Indians.  

Oconee County’s Ryan Foster was named the region-8 AAA boys’ most outstanding player.
