New WEGG radio station up and running

There is a new radio station on the air serving the northeast Georgia counties of Franklin, Hart and Madison with secondary service to adjacent areas in Northeast Georgia and Upstate South Carolina.

The call sign is WEGG and the frequency of the Class A FM station is 95.3. Lake Hartwell Radio, Inc. a subsidiary of Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting, owns WEGG along with its long established and successful WLHR in Lavonia.

Daniel Brown is Vice-President/General Manager for both stations. WEGG offices and studios will share space with WLHR. The station’s transmitter is located on Ginn Hill, 2.5 miles south of Royston.

The station’s music format is Good Time Oldies provided by the Westwood One Radio Network. The music consists of contemporary hit songs of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. The call sign WEGG was chosen to honor the poultry industry in the station’s primary signal service area which the station refers to as the Tri-County.

Franklin, Hart and Madison are the three largest poultry producing counties in the state of Georgia. The station has nearly a dozen billboards located throughout the Tri-County announcing the new public service.

Company officials said additional local programming will be added as the station grows its audience. WEGG operates 24 hours daily, seven days a week.

Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting operates 14 radio station signals in the two Carolinas and Georgia including WNEG.
