New details released regarding murder suspect after press conference

A murder suspect and two victims police say he stabbed are recovering in the hospital after a crime spree which came to an end Tuesday.

It was around 3 p.m. when Toccoa Police responded to Spring Street West near an abandoned factory.

During a press conference held Tuesday night, GBI Special Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox told WNEG News officers arrived when someone called 911 after recognizing murder suspect Kenton Deshaun Hall.

Maddox said Hall was wanted for stabbing a man and a woman at an apartment then kidnapping his wife 49-year-old Patricia Hall from the home Monday night.

When officers arrived on scene Kenton Hall was armed with a knife. During the encounter one of the officers that arrived fired twice at Hall striking him once.

During the press conference, Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize said 64-year-old Robert Maxwell and 66-year-old Nancy Johson tried to protect Patricia Hall from her husband after the Halls had an argument earlier Monday, and he tracked her down.

The body of Patricia Hall was discovered in a heavily wooded area off of East Franklin Street, Tuesday afternoon.

Mize says the investigation began Monday night, after officers were dispatched to a residence on Mill Street, in reference to a medical call of a person bleeding.

Upon arrival, officers found the first two victims with multiple stab wounds, identified as Maxwell and Johnson. The pair was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Kenton Hall managed to elude law enforcement, search dogs and a heat seeking helicopter about 18 hours.

The GBI said the officer involved was not injured and was placed on paid administrative leave which is standard procedure.

Kenton Hall and the two people Investigators say he stabbed are recovering the hospital.

The body of Patricia Hall was taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
