National Day of Prayer Service held in Toccoa

A crowd gathered on the Greenspace in Downtown Toccoa at noon on Thursday, May 7, for a time of prayer. It was the National Day of Prayer, and Evangelist Steve Paysen spoke about its importance.

The service was broadcast live on WNEG.

One of those young people who testified was Lauren Schell, a junior at Stephens County High School (SCHS).

Coach Kirk Rogers, sponsor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Program at SCHS, said the National Day of Prayer provides students with a platform to share their faith.

SCHS Head Football Coach Thomas Flowers said the National Day of Prayer is always special.

Stephens County Commissioner Tara Simmons, Toccoa City Commissioner Gail Fry, and Stephens County Commissioner Chuck Wright were the local dignitaries who attended the event.

Performing two songs at the event was D-Earl, Toccoa’s own gospel recording artist. He shared this about the event.

The first Thursday in May each year is the National Day of Prayer, on which the people of the United States turn to God in prayer.
