Mrs. Vera Durham Campbel

Mrs. Vera Durham Campbell, age 88 of Toccoa, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16. 2026.

A daughter of the late Orville D. and Vera Durham, she was born September 6, 1937, in Fort Payne, Alabama. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State college in Alabama, having majored in trombone and receiving her Master’s Degree in music.  She was a Band Director at Trion High School, later moving to Toccoa in 1964 where she taught music, chorus at Toccoa High School. When they consolidated schools in Stephens county she went and taught chorus at Tallulah Falls High School prior to taking the job at Stephens County Junior High School, she retired in 1994.She loved teaching kids and always prepared popcorn and coke before their piano lessons which she taught at her home after school was out for the day. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the choir, but more importantly she was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Campbell in 2010.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Scott Campbell and Alan Neill Campbell and wife Robin both of Toccoa; grandchildren, Preston Scott Campbell, Robert Garrett Campbell and Zachary Travis Campbell; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Campbell and Alaina Campbell.

Funeral services will be Friday May 22, 2026, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Brett Sanders, Mr. Rex Patterson, Mr. Garrett Campbell and Jakie Street officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the service time at 2 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Her wishes were to be cremated.
