Mrs. Sadie Lou Pitts Metcalfe

Mrs. Sadie Lou Pitts Metcalfe, age 85 of Toccoa passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the home of her son, surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late Sherman and Florence Cooper Pitts, she was born April 23, 1940, in Oconee County, South Carolina, having lived all her life in Stephens County.  She was employed with Wright’s Manufacturing for a number of years, later working with Lanier Clothes (Oxford Industries) and later as a caregiver for many of the elderly in the community.  She was a member of The Toccoa Church of God, The Pointe Church.  She loved her family and enjoyed doing seamstress work for others.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Carter, grandson, Michael Carter and her siblings, Charlie Sherman Pitts, Wilburn Pitts, Claude Pitts, Marvin Pitts, Curtis Pitts, and L.D. Pitts.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Metcalfe of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Tanna Carter of Westminster, South Carolina, Kenneth and Joy Carter and Michael and Janice Carter both of Toccoa; grandchildren, Andrea Ausborn (Matt), Chris Carter (Michelle), Ivy Newman (Andrew), Janie Hendrick (Jeremy) Ansley Smith and Dakota Shirley; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in law, Jackson Pitts and the late Ruth Pitts of Toccoa, Jimmy and Liz Pitts of Carnesville, Georgia, Terry and Janet Pitts of Liberty, South Carolina and Bill and Roxanne Metcalf of Coldwater, Michigan; sisters, Ollie Wood and Mary Kesler; a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026, 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the home of Kenneth and Joy Carter, 32 Poplar Trail, Toccoa, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Christ Fellowship with The Reverend Travis Pitts and The Reverend Jerry Chitwood officiating.  The family will receive friends at Christ Fellowship on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 3 p.m. until the service time at 4 p.m.
