Mrs. Ruby Jean Turpin McCall

Mrs. Ruby Jean Turpin McCall, age 84, of Toccoa, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at Mark and Milinda McCall’s home.

She was born February 25, 1938 in Pickens County, SC and having lived most of her life in Stephens County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Jesse Lee and Mrs. Louetta Bell Turpin. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers and Honorary Guests Sunday School Class. Ruby was baptized at 11 years of age at the old fishing pond near the old Drive in Theater on Hwy 17 by Dr. J. Robert Martin. She married Charles Ray McCall in 1958 and they were married for 61 years when he died in April, 2019. She worked at Wrights Manufacturing Company for over 30 years and then at Lanier Company for an additional 20-30 years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie Alexander; brothers, Pete Turpin, Bill Turpin, Clyde Turpin, Grady Turpin, and Russell Turpin.

Survivors include her only child, Mark McCall and daughter-in-law, Milinda McCall of Loganville; grandson, James Ray “J.R.” McCall of Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pumpkin, the dog, was her faithful friend for 12 years.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 12 noon until the service on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Memorial Services will be held at two o’clock Saturday, March 4, 2023 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Bill Stacey officiating.
